elasticsearch indexing and searching
In this tutorial we will understand how Elasticsearch index a document and search a document.

Index Document in Elasticsearch

As we know that every node is called instance of Elasticsearch and every node has index that contains shard.Shard is nothing but a smallest unit in Elasticsearch that contains data and that can be moved from one node to other in cluster.

During indexing a document in Elasticsearch when a node receives a request to index a document then as per document ID it finds shard and the node that received document forwards to the node which holds that shard.Subsequently, that indexing operation is replayed by all the replicas of that shard

Search Document in Elasticsearch

During searching a document in Elasticsearch when a node receives a request to search a document then it forwards this request to collection of shards that contains full data.As per available shard it forwards this search request and at the end it collects result from all shard and aggregates those result. After aggregation results are sent to client application.
